Chopping Board Workshops

Do you have an interest in making your own chopping board?  No problem.  Chopxchop is now offering workshops to build your own chopping board tailored for your own skillshop out of Vancouver Hack Space.

Vancouver Hackspace is a non profit organization who offers the tools and the space to help makers make.  We have over 170 members who are all interdisciplinary and love working on welding, machining, electronics, sewing, painting, 3d printing, resin casting, and just about any odd ball project that fits our fancy.

Our Chopping board workshop is perfectly suited for those who have little to no prior experience in woodworking.  Making a chopping board covers all your basic wood working tools from a table saw, jointer, planer, miter saw, trim router and orbital sander.  You will see these tools being used to various degrees in just about every woodworking project you can imagine making this course a great start to dip your toe into wood working.

Designing is super simple as you'll be able to visualize your cutting board using a wide range of scrap material before starting to cut your own pieces and from there we'll measure, cut, glue, flatten, square, work on the sides, and sand the board until completion.  You will take home some mineral oil and board wax to finish your board at home.

For the general public the cost of this workshop is 150 dollars and for VHS members it will be a 130 dollars.  All materials will be provided to you from the wood, glue, sandpaper, and finishing oils.  Classes are capped to 3 people for safety purposes.

Workshops will be planed before Christmas, Valentines Day, Mothers Day and Fathers day and a couple of random times through the year.  These might be two day workshops or a full day on a weekend.
